How we count: A filing is a recorded, posted or published notice that starts a foreclosure, tax-default, code-enforcement or probate case or schedules its sale (notice of default, notice of trustee's sale, lis pendens or foreclosure complaint, tax-default listing, code case, probate petition), counted on its recording, posting or filing date. Each property counts once per month, even when several sources print the same notice. The auction calendar counts every property whose sale was set for a day in the month, including sales later postponed or cancelled. These are counts for the counties and sources listed below, not statewide totals. A county is compared with an earlier month only when we were already reading its sources when that month began; counties we started reading during the month are marked. Properties with a removal request are left out. Public records can lag or contain errors; owners' names and street addresses are never published here.
